After graduating from college with a B.A. in Political Science, Terry went on to earn a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. After teaching various grades for 17 years in Turnersville, New Jersey, she developed a passion for teaching reading with a particular focus on serving students who struggle with dyslexia. She found that combining the skills of teaching students how to read through the use of historical fiction served two purposes at the same time, and her students loved it. She has always felt that learning people's stories is one of the best ways to engage individuals in developing a life long enjoyment of history. She has volunteered as a reading teacher and mentor for the School District of Philadelphia and a private school for the past 24 years.
